ABOUT THAMMA JOIA
From jewellery design in Geneva to
textile jewellery in the Algarve mountains.
I combine the precision of high-jewellery craftsmanship with micro-macramé and ocean treasures to create unique, wearable pieces. Handmade with intention, shaped by nature.
BEHIND THE BRAND
Thamma Joia grew from a desire to explore a softer, lighter approach to jewellery. After years of working with metal and precious stones, I wanted to explore a different language, one that emerges when jewellery meets textile and found materials.Micro-macramé reinvents the ancestral art of knotting into a refined and precious form. Entirely handmade, each piece is born from a meticulous assembly of tight knots that demands absolute focus and millimetric precision.More than just a technique, this creative process unfolds as a true meditation through movement, where the repetition of miniature knots embraces and sets the elements I gather along the ocean. From this rigor emerge unique pieces of understated elegance, uniting thread and organic matter into textures with soft vibrations.
FROM GENEVA TO THE ALGARVE MOUNTAINS
My name is Florie Dupont. I am a French jewellery designer and artisan, trained in Geneva and Amsterdam.I began studying jewellery and object design in Geneva in 2002, followed by an Erasmus exchange in Amsterdam, where I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Jewellery Design in 2007. I then returned to Geneva and spent more than a decade working across contemporary author jewellery and luxury jewellery. In 2014, I completed a Master’s degree in Fashion and Accessory Design at HEAD–Geneva and received the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation Prize for Excellence. These years shaped the way I approach jewellery, with patience, precision and a deep respect for craftsmanship.In 2017, I left Geneva and spent the following year travelling before settling in the Algarve in 2018. Surrounded by nature and far from the pace of the city, my way of creating gradually changed. Thamma Joia was born from this new chapter.
SHAPED BY NATURE, MADE WITH CARE
Life in the Algarve has brought me closer to simplicity, nature and a more autonomous way of living. Long walks along the coast have become an important part of my creative process, where I find seashells, sea glass and stones shaped by the Atlantic.These fragments of the landscape become the starting points for new creations, revealing a distinct beauty in their imperfections, colours and textures. I carefully select and arrange each element, looking for the perfect balance of form and contrast, where every piece becomes a harmonious composition.
A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO JEWELLERY
Micro-macramé opened up an intuitive yet versatile way of working for me. It allows me to create organic, flexible structures, while keeping a sharp eye for detail.With this technique I am able to make jewellery that can adapt to the body with a unique softness. It redefines the weight and feel of a piece, making even bold designs remarkably light and comfortable to wear.With Thamma Joia, I explore jewellery in a more relaxed and accessible form, without ever compromising on quality, technical mastery, and thoughtful making.

1984 — Born in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois, France.2002–2007 — Studies in Jewellery Design at HEAD–Geneva and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam. Graduates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Jewellery Design.2008–2010 — Professional training in gemstone setting for the Swiss watchmaking industry, Geneva.2010 — Founds Florie Dupont Organic Jewellery, a studio exploring the connection between fine jewellery and contemporary art.2010–2013 — Assistant in the Jewellery Design Department at HEAD–Geneva.2012 — Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Branding and Self-Marketing for Young Designers, HEAD–Geneva.2013 — Winner of the Young Designers Prize, Ateliers d’Art de France.
